About us

David Brown

Painter in oils, sketcher, art collector, gallery visitor, occasional exhibition curator and researcher – especially of local artists.

Born in Wirral and returned here following moves around the UK for various employers.

Interested in art from childhood and began oil painting and drawing when about 15 years old. I have been a Member of the long-established [1872] Liver Sketching Club for many years, Secretary for 9 years and twice elected President. I am also Secretary of the Wirral Society of Arts.

I now paint and draw extensively – mainly in my studio in Bromborough but also at the Liver Sketching Club’s studio in Liverpool - and almost always from the live model.

I also paint townscapes often involving fairly basic elements such as bus stops. There are good images everywhere.

Work in collections locally and throughout the UK, and in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and mainland Europe - several in France.

Most recent exhibitions include The Liverpool Biennial Independents and the Wirral Open at the Williamson Art Gallery.

Susan Brown

Susan Brown is an American artist now based in the Northwest of England. She paints in oils in a traditional style.
New work has used backgrounds of several different media to create traditional style paintings with a modern twist.

“Living on a coastline means that beach scenes and depictions of water feature quite a lot in my work. I work mainly in oils but hammerite has lately figured large as both a medium and background. I have work in collections around the globe, in quite a number of private homes and there are frequent exhibitions of my work”
